Machanla, just spotted this ad on ikman for a Land Rover Defender 110 (1965 model) but with a 300Tdi engine swap – going for Rs. 6.5 million. Located in Kandy.

From the pics, it looks solid – seems like a proper resto-mod. Exterior is clean, and the ad says it's running perfectly.

Do you think it's worth that much? I know the old 110 bodies with newer engines like the 300Tdi are kinda rare, but 6.5M feels high? 🤔

Anyone from Kandy area know this build? Or have experience with similar Defender swaps? Let's talk! 👇

Ado machan, yeah I saw that too 1965 body with a 300Tdi swap is rare. Looks nicely restored clean body, fresh paint, and decent interior.

But Rs. 6.5M feels a bit high, no? Still an old chassis. For that price, you might even find a newer 110 Puma with more comfort. If you're serious, try to talk it down to around Rs. 5.5M.

It's true, machan. Prices for Defenders in Sri Lanka are high, but it's mainly because they're iconic and reliable for our terrain. The older models with the 300Tdi engine are popular because of their simplicity and ease of maintenance, but finding one in good condition is a challenge.
For newer models, the tech and comfort features are appealing, but not everyone wants the added complexity. If someone's planning to buy, I'd suggest inspecting the vehicle thoroughly—rust and hidden repairs are common issues.

And yeah, ikman.lk is a great place to start. Keep an eye out for realistic pricing and don't be afraid to negotiate! 😊
