  • How to Change Oil & Filter in a 300Tdi Defender at Home?

Anyone here doing their own oil change for the 300Tdi? What oil do you use, and where do you buy the filter in Colombo? I'm trying to avoid getting ripped off at garages.

Easy job mcn. Get under the sump with a 13mm socket, drain the oil after a run. I use Castrol GTX Diesel 15W-40, and change every 5,000km. Filter you can find at Auto Force – Panchikawatte, around Rs. 1,200.

Don't forget to fill the new filter with a bit of oil before fitting. Helps with cold start pressure. Also, torque the drain bolt back gently don't overtighten or you'll strip the thread. I use a plastic sheet and basin to catch the oil, no need fancy ramps.
