Okay machanla, here's a bit of a spicy topic. I've been using my 2007 Defender 90 in and around Colombo for the last 8 months. Don't get me wrong – I love the vehicle. Every time I look at it parked, I fall in love again. But on a day-to-day basis... this thing is a nightmare.
Tight turns? Forget it. Parking? Better say a prayer. Fuel economy? Let's not even talk about that. AC takes forever to cool, and when it rains, sometimes water gets into the floorboards.
So I'm wondering – is it just me? Or is the Defender just not made for city life? I know people use it off-road, on farms, and on long-distance camping trips. But for daily city driving, are we just torturing ourselves?
Would love to hear what you all think. Any tips to make life easier in Colombo traffic with this beast?
Haha machan, you just said everything we're all secretly thinking! The Defender is like dating a wild girl – exciting, unique, gets attention – but exhausting as hell sometimes.
I use mine daily from Battaramulla to Fort. Some days I feel like a king, other days I question all my life choices. But I guess we keep doing it because the Landy is not just a car, it's an experience.
That being said, a few things helped me:
- Installed a proper reversing camera.
- Changed my stock mirrors to wider ones.
- Got better damping and a proper carpet – reduced heat and sound.
Still not a Prius, but hey... it's a Defender. You suffer, you smile. That's the deal 😎
