Hi Guys,
I got my handbrake shoes re-lined at Imperial, but now when I go to fit everything back, the drum won't go in unless I remove the pin from the handbrake cable at the lever only then the lever slacks enough.
Is there a way to adjust the cable and give more slack? Or do I need to redo the shoes with thinner lining? There's a thread on the cable housing near where it comes into the cab looks like it might be for adjusting, no?
Machan, there's a small adjuster bolt hidden inside the brake drum, right behind the transfer case, neh.
You gotta tighten that bolt until the handbrake just starts to bite — then back it off a bit. That's how you set it properly.
I jack the car up and spin the wheel and listen if the shoes are grinding against the drum. Often drum is not 100% round then the shoes touch some parts
