Title: Defender overheating
Post by: Defender_Explorer on Jun 16, 2025, 09:36 AM
Hi brothers,

I have a Defender 300Tdi, normally runs fine but lately it's overheating during Colombo traffic, especially when stuck in one place for long. Once I hit open road it's okay.

I checked coolant, looks full. No leak also.

Anyone faced this? What should I check? Is it radiator or fan clutch or something?

Let me know if you've sorted this before.

Machan yes, this is a very common issue with 300Tdi Defenders, especially in our Lankan hot traffic. I had the same issue in my 110

Most of the time, the fan clutch gets weak with age. When the engine heats up, it doesn't spin fast enough. I replaced mine with a Behr OEM clutch fan, problem solved.
