Changed my 110's rear brake cylinders last weekend with basic tools and some patience. Bought the cylinders from a shop in Galle Road for Rs. 4,800 a pair.

Used a brick to hold the axle, a homemade flare nut wrench (cut from a ring spanner), and my Thaththa's old vice grips.

I'll post a full DIY guide if people are interested. Saved about Rs. 7,000 in labor!

Parts & Accessories / Best Wind Deflectors for Defen...
Last post by Gowshi07 - Jul 10, 2025, 08:31 PM
Hi guys! I want to install a proper wind deflector set on my 90 to help with window fog and reduce wind noise (and hair mess 😅). What's the best fit and quality for SL climate?

Planning a small trail session next Poya weekend in Kalpitiya dunes. Want to take a couple of new Defender owners along for their first off-road experience.

Trail isn't too hard — mostly soft sand and gentle climbs near the beach. Will post GPX routes if anyone's interested. Anyone been recently? Is it still clean and safe?

Machangla, thinking of going bold with my Defender 110. Top half in desert sand, bottom half in matte forest green. Saw something similar on Instagram from South Africa and it looks killer.

Anyone here in SL done two-tone wraps? Can our local wrap places pull off something clean that lasts in this heat?

Classic signs of restricted radiator fins or intercooler airflow. Happened to me — ended up replacing the radiator altogether. Also, make sure you're running proper coolant mix — plain water won't cut it in Lankan hills.

Guys, I'm losing my mind. My 1996 300TDi overheats badly when climbing up to Haputale or even long hills on the way to Kegalle. On flat terrain she's fine. Replaced thermostat, flushed radiator, even changed the water pump recently.

Could this be a head gasket starting to fail? Or something more basic like airflow issue?

Any veteran advice would be amazing 🙏

She's an absolute stunner, Jacqueline! I've got a green 90 I call "Maya" — will post pics soon. Loving the copper trim!

Hi folks! Just wanted to finally post about my 2011 Defender 110 – fully customized and wrapped in matte black with copper accents. Her name's Kaali (like the goddess!), and trust me, she turns heads even in Kandy town traffic.

Did custom leather seats with brown diamond stitching, roof basket from a local fabricator, and upgraded suspension for hill climbs. She's loud, bold, and unapologetic – just like her driver 😎

Would love to see other lady-owned Defenders! Let's get a thread going?

Restoration Projects / Re: Starting a Full Series III...

Massive respect machang! My first Series III rebuild taught me more than a mechanical diploma. Take your time, label every bolt, and don't forget to take "before" pics — you'll thank yourself later. We're with you!

Aney brothers and sisters, I finally took the plunge. Picked up a 1977 Series III 109 from a retired CTB inspector's backyard. Body was rusted, seats were chicken nests, and the chassis had more spiderwebs than a Jaffna temple bell tower 😅

I've never done a full resto before, but this has been my childhood dream. Already stripped the panels, removed the engine (2.25 petrol), and sent the chassis for sandblasting. I'm planning to document every step here — and I'll be needing loads of your advice!

Wish me luck — first step: bulkhead repairs. 🙏
