  • Remapping Defenders in Sri Lanka – Any of You Tried It?

Hi machanla, I've been hearing more and more about remapping Defender ECUs these days. Mostly from UK forums and a few Lankan YouTube channels. Apparently, it's possible to get better torque, fuel efficiency, and even reduce turbo lag with a proper ECU remap – especially for the TD5 and Puma models.

Now, I've got a 2010 Defender 110 Puma, and honestly, it feels a bit sluggish on the hills when fully loaded. I'm tempted to try a remap but I'm not sure who in Sri Lanka actually does it properly. I've heard of a guy in Kohuwala, and another one in Kandy, but I want someone who knows Land Rovers – not just random chip tuners.

Also, anyone here using OBD2 tools like Nanocom or iCarsoft? Would be great to scan things myself instead of running to a garage every time the check engine light pops up.

Would love to hear from anyone who's done it here. Did you notice a real improvement? Or was it just hype?

Ah yes, now we're talking machan. I did a stage 1 remap on my 2.4 Puma last year. Got it done through a UK tuner who emailed me the file – I had a guy in Kandy upload it with a Nanocom Evolution. I have to say, the difference is real. Pulling power is much better, especially on climbs like Haputale road. And even in Colombo traffic, the throttle feels sharper.

As for tools, I highly recommend the iCarsoft LR V3. It works well with Defenders and gives you live data, fault codes, everything. Bit expensive – around 40k – but totally worth it in the long run.

Only thing machan – be careful who you trust. Some guys here just copy files from the internet and upload without even checking your VIN or current map. That's dangerous. You mess up the ECU, you're in for a 200k repair bill.

If you need a contact, message me. Happy to help a fellow Landy lover!
